Gerr Marine is a naval architecture and yacht-design firm that designs yachts and commercial vessels, sail and power, monohull and multihull, in all materials: fiberglass/composite, wood, aluminum and steel. Designs are fast boats and displacement cruisers, patrol boats and workboats. Projects also include work on U.S. Navy submarines, hydrofoil powerboats, and hybrid or green boats/diesel-electric-battery powered. Dave Gerr is also a marine surveyor and performs specialized surveys for insurance companies and law firms. He as been an expert witness in a broad assortment of cases from marine-related homicides to routine insurance and damage suits. A chartered engineer, CEng, and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, FRINA, Gerr is a graduate of The Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology. He is the author of Propeller Handbook, Boat Mechanical Systems Handbook, The Nature of Boats, and The Elements of Boat Strength, all published by International Marine/McGraw-Hill.
