Le Hepatitis Education Project (HEP) est une organisation à but non lucratif basée à Seattle, Washington, qui vise à fournir une éducation, un soutien et une défense aux personnes touchées par l'hépatite virale. Depuis sa création en 1993, HEP a été à l'avant-garde de la sensibilisation aux hépatites B et C, de la promotion de stratégies de prévention et de l'amélioration de l'accès aux soins pour les personnes vivant avec ces maladies.
Au cœur de la mission de HEP se trouve la conviction que l'éducation est essentielle pour prévenir la propagation de l'hépatite virale. Grâce à divers programmes et initiatives de sensibilisation, HEP cherche à donner aux communautés des connaissances sur les facteurs de risque, les options de test, les options de traitement et les moyens de vivre une vie saine malgré un diagnostic d'hépatite B ou C.
L'un des programmes phares de HEP est son Hepatitis Support Group qui se réunit tous les jeudis de 12h30 à 14h00 dans leur bureau situé au 1621 S. Jackson St Unit 201 Seattle WA 98144. Ce groupe offre un espace sûr aux personnes vivant avec des virus l'hépatite pour partager leurs expériences et recevoir un soutien émotionnel de la part d'autres personnes qui comprennent ce qu'elles traversent. Le groupe comprend également des conférenciers invités qui fournissent des informations sur des sujets tels que la nutrition, l'observance des médicaments, la gestion de la santé mentale, etc.
En plus de son programme de groupe de soutien, Hepatitis Education Project propose des services de dépistage gratuits pour les hépatites B et C les lundis de 12h30 à 17h30.
