L'Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) est une organisation à but non lucratif qui a été fondée en 1990. Malgré la répression brutale des forces de l'ordre lors de manifestations contre DAPL à Standing Rock Reservation dans le Dakota du Nord en 2016-17 ; des militants autochtones avec le soutien d'alliés ont pu interrompre temporairement la construction avant qu'elle ne reprenne en vertu du décret de l'administration Trump, mais font toujours face à des défis juridiques aujourd'hui.

En plus de son travail de plaidoyer autour des problèmes environnementaux affectant les peuples autochtones à l'échelle mondiale; IEN travaille également à promouvoir la justice sociale et les droits de l'homme. L'organisation a été impliquée dans des campagnes contre la brutalité policière, l'incarcération de masse et d'autres formes d'oppression systémique qui affectent de manière disproportionnée les communautés autochtones.
