La Lobero Theatre Foundation : un monument historique à Santa Barbara
La Lobero Theatre Foundation est une organisation à but non lucratif qui gère et exploite l'historique Lobero Theatre à Santa Barbara, en Californie. Le théâtre a été fondé à l'origine par José Lobero en 1873 et est depuis devenu un point de repère culturel de la ville.
Situé au coin des rues Anacapa et Canon Perdido, à moins d'un pâté de maisons du Presidio historique de Santa Barbara, le théâtre Lobero fait partie intégrante de la communauté depuis plus de 140 ans. Il a accueilli d'innombrables spectacles allant des pièces de théâtre aux comédies musicales en passant par les concerts, ce qui en fait l'un des lieux les plus polyvalents du sud de la Californie.
La riche histoire du théâtre se reflète dans son architecture. Le bâtiment présente un style néo-colonial espagnol avec des toits de tuiles rouges, des murs en stuc blanc et des détails en fer forgé. À l'intérieur, il bénéficie d'un cadre intime pouvant accueillir jusqu'à 600 personnes.
Au fil des ans, de nombreux artistes célèbres ont honoré sa scène, notamment Charlie Chaplin, Sarah Bernhardt et Bing Crosby. Aujourd'hui, il continue d'attirer les meilleurs talents du monde entier, tels que la légende du jazz Wynton Marsalis et la star de Broadway Kristin Chenoweth.
