Premièrement, les frais d'adoption de 450 $ prétendent couvrir les vaccins ... Sauf que ces vaccins ne sont pas administrés par un vétérinaire agréé, donc toute organisation (par exemple, les compagnies aériennes, les écoles de comportement, les pensionnaires pour chiens) ne les reconnaîtra pas. Donc, même si le chiot était vacciné, nous devions quand même répéter les injections. De plus, Main Street Mutt Rescue n'a pas de numéro de téléphone parce que c'est apparemment une entreprise du dix-neuvième siècle. De plus, ils n'ont répondu à aucun de mes courriels ni à mes questions sur mon chiot. (EDIT: ils l'ont finalement fait et nous ont même mis en contact avec les familles qui ont adopté les frères et sœurs de notre chiot, afin que nous puissions tous faire des références croisées sur la santé.)
Ainsi, grâce à une enquête vétérinaire, nous avons constaté qu'elle souffrait de giardia, de gale démodécique, de toux de chenil et d'une infection abdominale résultant d'un type de piqûre d'insecte. On nous a dit que la toux du chenil et l'infection par morsure pourraient très probablement avoir été postérieures à l'adoption, mais la giardia est définitivement antérieure à cela. La gale est un peu plus compliquée, il est donc difficile de blâmer le sauvetage du chien, mais leur manque de professionnalisme surprenant, leur manque de communication et leur opacité dans la présentation sont toutes des sortes de signaux d'alarme que nous aurions dû remarquer.
Je conseillerais aux gens qui cherchent à sauver d'aller ailleurs. Il y a beaucoup de chiens et de chiots de refuge autour de Whatcom qui ont besoin d'être adoptés et leurs refuges continueront à fournir une communication claire après l'adoption et ils administreront réellement les vaccins correctement. Je suis content de mon chiot galeux, et chaque chiot demande beaucoup de travail, mais il manque clairement quelque chose dans la façon dont cet endroit mène ses affaires.
