L'Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) est une agence d'État chargée de la gestion et de la conservation des ressources halieutiques et fauniques de l'Oregon. Le département a été créé en 1921, avec pour mission de protéger et d'améliorer les poissons et la faune de l'Oregon et leurs habitats pour l'utilisation et le plaisir des générations présentes et futures.

ODFW gère plus de 30 espèces de poissons de gibier, dont la truite, le saumon, la truite arc-en-ciel, l'achigan, le doré jaune, le poisson-chat, l'esturgeon, la marigane, le crapet arlequin, la perche, entre autres. Le département gère également plus de 80 espèces de poissons non gibiers comme les lamproies. En plus de gérer les ressources halieutiques dans les rivières de l'État, les lacs, les ruisseaux, les étangs, les réservoirs, les estuaires, les baies, les océans, etc., l'ODFW gère également les possibilités de chasse au gros gibier, comme le cerf, le wapiti, l'ours, le couguar, l'antilope d'Amérique, le mouflon d'Amérique, la chèvre de montagne, etc.

Le département dispose d'une équipe de biologistes qui mènent des recherches sur divers aspects de la biologie des poissons et de la faune, de l'écologie, du comportement, de la génétique, des exigences en matière d'habitat, de la dynamique des populations, etc. Cette recherche aide à éclairer les décisions de gestion visant à assurer des populations durables de ces ressources.

ODFW travaille en étroite collaboration avec d'autres agences telles que le US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), le National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), le Bureau of Land Management (BLM), le US Forest Service (USFS), le Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) entre autres pour s'assurer que ses programmes sont conformes aux lois fédérales, aux règlements, aux politiques, aux lignes directrices, etc.

En plus de gérer les ressources halieutiques, ODFW offre également des possibilités de loisirs aux pêcheurs, aux chasseurs, aux trappeurs, aux ornithologues, aux randonneurs, aux campeurs, aux plaisanciers, aux kayakistes, aux rafteurs, aux nageurs, aux pique-niqueurs, aux passionnés de la nature, aux photographes, aux artistes, aux écrivains, aux éducateurs, aux étudiants, aux chercheurs, aux décideurs politiques, aux élus, aux médias, aux entreprises, aux organisations à but non lucratif, etc.

ODFW exploite plusieurs écloseries où il élève chaque année des millions de poissons juvéniles qui sont ensuite relâchés dans divers plans d'eau à travers l'État. Ces écloseries jouent un rôle important dans le maintien de populations saines de poissons gibier non gibier, en particulier ceux qui ont été touchés par la perte d'habitat, la pollution, le changement climatique, les espèces envahissantes, la prédation, la maladie, la surpêche ou d'autres facteurs.

ODFW mène également des programmes d'éducation de proximité visant à sensibiliser le public à l'importance des avantages de la valeur et des défis auxquels sont confrontées les ressources naturelles de l'Oregon. Ces programmes comprennent des ateliers des séminaires des cours des sorties sur le terrain des visites des expositions des publications des campagnes sur les réseaux sociaux des sites Web des newsletters des communiqués de presse des articles de presse des émissions de télévision des podcasts des webinaires des conférences des symposiums des festivals des foires des concours des bourses d'études des subventions des partenariats des collaborations des parrainages des dons des opportunités de bénévolat des projets de science citoyenne, etc.
