La mission de l'organisation est de tenir l'ONU responsable de ses actions et de s'assurer qu'elle respecte ses propres principes et valeurs.
L'un des principaux domaines d'intérêt de United Nations Watch est de dénoncer les violations des droits de l'homme commises par les États membres au sein d'organes de l'ONU tels que le Conseil des droits de l'homme (HRC) et l'Assemblée générale (UNGA). L'organisation surveille également le respect du droit et des normes internationales par les agences des Nations Unies telles que l'UNESCO, l'OMS et l'UNRWA.
En plus de surveiller les activités de l'ONU, United Nations Watch plaide également pour une réforme au sein de l'institution elle-même.
