L'une des deux seules écoles primaires / intermédiaires catholiques mixtes de Manhattan (et la seule en dessous de la 60e rue), elle offre une introduction chaleureuse à la tradition catholique tout en accueillant des étudiants de toutes confessions. L'école accueille régulièrement un grand nombre d'enfants de diverses traditions religieuses ainsi que des élèves nés à l'étranger ou dont les parents sont originaires d'autres pays. Cette diversité est surtout célébrée lors de la Journée internationale lorsque les étudiants choisissent le pays qu'ils souhaitent représenter et s'habillent en conséquence.

L'AOSJ a été un endroit incroyable pour notre fille. Elle a commencé en pré-k et s'est vraiment épanouie. L'approche innovante, la possibilité pour les parents de s'impliquer et la petite taille des classes étaient tous des arguments de vente incroyables. Pour une institution d'élite du Village, les frais de scolarité sont également très abordables. C'est en grande partie grâce à la directrice fondatrice, Mme Coombs, qui s'assure vraiment que les étudiants sont les leaders de demain et non les suiveurs.
